Liberal Democrat Conference 2011: Are The Lib Dems Trying To Ban Page 3 Girls?

Page 3 Girls

Huffington Post UK   First Posted: 20/09/11 10:59 Updated: 19/11/11 10:12

Amongst the many motions passed at the Liberal Democrat's 2011 conference is a call to restrict "sexualised images" in newspapers.

A plan by former MP Evan Harris aims to "tackle the projection of women as sex objects to children and adolescents by restricting sexualised images in newspapers and general circulation magazines to the same rules that apply to pre-watershed broadcast media."

The Sun reports that Evan Harris held up photos of page 3 girls during a debate in Birmingham, and argued they - and the Sun newspaper - should only be on the top shelf at newsagents.

"OK, these images can be available for adults if they want to access them, but they should have to reach up to a higher shelf than what is at the general view for young people."

They call it an attack by "militant" party activists on "Britain's best-selling daily and its most popular page".

But what do you think? Should Page 3 be banned? Vote in our poll

There are surely more important things to spend time on than being a poor imitation of the prudish United States - "Nudity - no way; Murder and Mayhem - no problem!"
Society has little concern with Page 3 compared to the economic bedlam and the disconnected youth turning to acquisitive violence on the streets.

Did something happen and the LibDems get infiltrated by the US TeaBag Party that believes that the only individual mandate that is allowed under the US Constitution is the mandatory wearing of chastity belts for girls and titanium jock straps on all boys till age 25?

Ah! Its so harmless! Haven't the Lib Dems got anything more important to be debating?

BTW, does anyone know whether the motion was passed?

A couple of page three girls at the LibDem conference may be the only way to save their plummeting popularity, I doubt it though.

Yes they should! Then we can get upskirts looks as well..............good idea from the LibDems.............lol

For anyone that know how to use internet, page 3 are joyful and very soft pictures. if this guy really believe "young people" will be protected by putting page 3 girls on top shelves, he probably has not lived in the life we all know for the last 15 years...

Only until we have naked men on page 2 will I believe humanity has come at all close to being civilised.

Clearly, if Jesus cared about whether one had clothes or not; he would have provided "natural" clothing. Given the Godly state is bare, well you get the message!

"Should Page 3 Be Put On The Top Shelf"
Wouldn’t that constitute a health and efficiency, sorry safety, hazard? Rending the issue a top heavy rack.

Ignore them. It's just a desperate cry for attention from the press and the public.

The whole "objectifying women" argument is stupid as it amounts to telling women(the page 3 girls) they are not smart enough to make their own decisions, so puritans and jealous hags will make the decision for them.
23:37 on 20/09/2011
if they agree to being objectified, they're still being objectified. just like a prostitute who's her own pimp remains, helas, a prostitute. (not that there's anything wrong with either, i'm just pointing out a hole in your argument...)
