Drunk Teacher Fired After Passing Out At School

A substitute teacher had her contract terminated after reportedly being found DRUNK at school. Jill Lyle was thought to have been drinking wine when she was found passed out in her office during school hours.

Lyle was found unconscious on Friday at Chaparral Elementary School in Santa Fe, New Mexico, slumped over her desk in a room connected to a classroom. She had a cup next to her which officers revealed was 'red and had an odour of alcohol'.

Santa Fe Police Lieutenant Louis Carlos said: 'We do not know how much, or if any for that matter, had been consumed, but we do believe it was a cup containing wine there with her in the classroom.'

Lyle denied she was under the influence, and told the police that she had simply fallen asleep at her desk. She was taken to hospital in an ambulance, but later released.

Lt Louis Carlos said his officers did not find any wine bottles or containers at the school, adding he did not know how she got it, or where it came from.

Despite having her contract terminated by the school, the police said no charges will be filed as no criminal act had occurred as the children were on their lunch break at the time, and not directly in her care.
