From Innocent Girl To 'She-Devil': The Changing Face Of Amanda Knox

Amanda Knox quickly won the nickname “Foxy Knoxy” when she became infamous over the murder of Meredith Kercher. Her photogenic looks became as much the subject of media attention as the grisly details of Kercher's violent death.

Knox's image has changed notably since she began the trial process four years ago. And the public remain unable to decide whether she is an innocent girl tangled up in a miscarriage of justice, or the 'she devil' described by one of the trial lawyers.

Even her defence lawyers have made frequent reference to her appearance. Giulia Bongiorno has variously described her as an Amelie figure, playing up to the innocent young girl image, but most recently as the voluptuous cartoon character, Jessica Rabbit. Bongiorno paraphrased a famous line from the film, saying Amanda “is not bad, she’s just drawn that way.”

Her friends and family say that she has not changed just in her appearance but in her character. Gone is the slight cockiness and smiles of her early appearances. Knox was even reported to have cartwheeled and done the splits while waiting to be questioned by police in 2007. Now that Knox is 24, she is increasingly conservative in her dress and has lost some of her early breeziness.

With Hayden Panetierre signed up to play her in the biopic, her infamy is sure to live on past the trial.
