Adele Recording 23rd 'James Bond' Theme Tune - Can She Top These 007 Classics? (VIDEOS)

VIDEOS: Adele Recording 'James Bond' Theme Tune - Can She Top These 007 Classics?

In the words of Adele's song, Rumour Has It she's joining the likes of Shirley Bassey, Louis Armstrong and Paul McCartney to record a James Bond theme tune.

There's no doubt the pop sensation, who's had global success with her albums 19 and 21, has the powerful, smooth vocals to match the long list of artists who've recorded a soundtrack for the James Bond franchise since the sixties.

Women have led the way in Bond theme tunes over the years with 14 females, including Nancy Sinatra, Alicia Keys and Carly Simon, producing hits. Men have turned out half that amount of songs (not including John Barry's orchestral pieces for the first two Bond films).

The Sun newspaper reports that, after recovering from a chest infection, Adele has used a week off from touring to begin writing the highly-anticipated track.

A source told the tabloid: "Adele is the obvious choice to record the next Bond theme. The last few songs for the spy movies have hardly set the charts alight. After her success this year, film-makers know the song is almost guaranteed to be a huge hit."

However, the star doesn't seem to have recovered from illness fully as today it was announced she's been forced to cancel her US tour after suffering more problems with her voice. The singer was due to perform 10 dates, starting in New Jersey on Friday night.
