Danny Baker has not been axed from the BBC despite his tweets claiming he has, his agent said on Friday.
Baker, a regular fixture on Five Live on Saturday mornings tweeted: "Nothing like having your show axed under an initiative called Delivering Quality First to let you know how valued you are."
Within moments he was trending on Twitter with people claiming it was "wrong" and that the decision was "proof BBC bosses are clueless idiots."
On Thursday BBC director general Mark Thompson announced a series of cutbacks which would involve 2,000 job loses and more repeats of programmes.
But Baker's agent Alex Armitage told the Huffington Post UK that Baker liked to use his tweets to spark reaction and that neither he or Danny had been told the axe had swung.
"Who knows what the future holds. I think you might have been taken in by it," he laughed.
