PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Brad Pitt's new film is going ahead as planned despite more than 100 prop weapons being seized by customs.
The Hollywood hunk and the cast and crew of his zombie thriller have moved to Hungary to shoot scenes for the film, but machine guns, rifles and pistols were confiscated at Budapest's Ferenc Liszt Airport.
Janos Hajdu, head of Hungary's Counter-terrorism Centre, said: "It's possible that all the weapons were brought in for the film, but this would not be allowed by Hungarian law."
This is because the weapons had not been fully deactivated and could easily be used to fire live ammunition.
He said the weapons had been sent to a Hungarian company, whose representative was being questioned.
Adam Goodman, whose company is providing production services for World War Z, said he had been advised not to comment on links between the seized weapons and the film.
"We are preparing as planned. We are not changing our schedule," he said, adding that media reports claiming the film set had been raided by police to confiscate the weapons were "not true."
Hungary's National Investigation Office said it had launched a probe in the case.
Brad's new film, due to be released next year, is based on Max Brooks' 2006 novel World War Z: An Oral History Of The Zombie War, which is set in Philadelphia in the aftermath of a war between humans and zombies.
Earlier this year the streets of Glasgow were transformed to look like Philadelphia as scenes were being filmed in the Scottish city. And Brad, Angelina Jolie and their brood of six children have frequently been spotted in Richmond, West London, after renting a house there while Brad is working on the film.
