David Cameron Embraces More Social Networking

Number 10 Boasts Cameron's Foursquare And Linkedin Credentials

First there was Webcameron, then an apparent U-turn at the time of that "too many tweets" comment. But David Cameron seems to have fallen back in love with social media. Number 10 has been keen to stress the Prime Minister's use of Linkedin and Foursquare.

The Prime Minister's Linkedin page reads like a man looking for a new job, expounding his previous credentials.

"Before becoming an MP, I worked in business and government," he claims.

"After graduating from University, I worked for the Conservative Party Research Department and then as a Special Adviser in government.

I then spent seven years at Carlton Communications, one of the UK’s leading media companies, and served on the management board."

Downing Street might have waited a bit before braying about it though. The poor Prime Minister only has 23 connections on Linkedin at the time of writing.

And he's only checked in to Foursquare twice, once at the House of Commons and once at the UN. He'll have to work a bit harder than that if he wants to become Mayor.

At least he can rest easy on the Twitter front. The Downing Street account has more than ten times the number of followers as Ed Milband.

Number 10 says: "Today [the PM] checked in at BP’s North Sea HQ in Aberdeen. He also checked in at the United Nations General Assembly in New York during his recent visit. Downing Street’s Foursquare presence supplies information to visitors and tourists checking-in there. Checking-in helps illustrate the events the Prime Minister participates in during his day-to-day duties beyond Downing Street.

"It is the intention that Downing Street will continue to connect via LinkedIn with people and businesses the PM meets regarding UK business, enterprise and manufacturing."
