Madonna Ready To Defend Her Film 'W.E' On Royal Romance At London Premiere (VIDEO)

Madonna: 'We're All Human Beings, We All Make Mistakes'

Madonna has defended her film W.E. from a wave of mixed reviews, describing it as "a complex story".

Speaking at the film's London premiere last night, the American singer-turned-director explained that she wanted the film to show that there were no villains or clear-cut good guys in the real-life abdication story of British King Edward VIII and the American divorcee Wallis Simpson, for whom he gave up his crown.

She said on the red carpet: "There's no black and white. It was important to show their flaws and their good sides. We're all human beings, we make mistakes. Hopefully, people will see Wallis Simpson as a human being."

With Madonna was actor James D'Arcy, who co-stars in the film with Andrea Riseborough and Abbie Cornish.
