Carlos Tevez Hit With £1m Fine Over Refusal To Play Against Bayern

Carlos Tevez Fined £1m For Refusing To Play In Champions League Tie

Argentinian striker Carlos Tevez has been fine around £1m by Manchester City for refusing to play during a recent Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

The temperamental frontman, who earns around £250,000 a week, was fined four weeks' wages following a disciplinary hearing in which he was found guilty of misconduct.

He was also suspended for two weeks, which he has already served.

Having fallen out with manager Roberto Mancini over the incident, the 27-year-old now faces playing the remainder of his time at the club in the reserves.

A spokesman for the club said: “I can confirm that following a call between Roberto Mancini and the chairman on Tuesday, the club’s formal position is that no offer for Carlos Tevez will be considered unless it reflects the true market value.”

Tevez, who denies refusing to play in last month’s game, which City lost 2-0, has 14 days to appeal the decision.
