Incest: Engaged Couple Expecting Baby Discover They Are Long-Lost Siblings

Engaged Couple Expecting Child Discover They Are Long-Lost Siblings

A couple engaged to be married and expecting their first child were left "shocked" after discovering they were long-lost siblings, it has been reported.

The brother and sister, who had been in a relationship for five years, only realised after their parents met to discuss their engagement and realised the awful truth. The man's relatives met with his sister's family to discuss the price to pay the bride's family - traditionally known as the "lobola".

The pair had been separated as children after their parents went through an acrimonious divorce in the 1980s. Raised independently from each other, they grew up 50 miles apart in South Africa's eastern Mpumalanga province.

But they were unknowingly reunited when they crossed paths again at university in 2007 where they "fell in love at first sight".

"All we wanted to do was just to have a family and many kids", the woman said. "We are going to have a child together.

"So you can imagine how shocked we were when they broke the news."

The pair are now burdened with the task of breaking the news to their unborn baby. "We can't think straight at the moment," her brother added, reported Metro.

"We do not know what we will tell him when he grows up."
