A drink called Stiffy's will be taken off the shelves after a complaint was upheld that it linked alcohol with sexual success.

The Independent Complaints Panel, which enforces the Portman Group's code of practice on the promotion of alcohol, said the name alluded to sexual success.

The 20% proof Stiffy's Jaffa Cake and Kola Kubez vodka drinks will be removed from shelves after the decision.

The panel found "that while the company may not have deliberately set out to link the product with sexuality, the brand name alluded to sexual success and accordingly found the product in breach of the responsibility code".

Henry Ashworth, chief executive of the Portman Group, which is supported by UK drinks producers and encourages industry responsibility, said: "It is totally inappropriate for alcohol marketing to allude to sexual success and following this ruling and our enforcement action, Stiffy's products will be removed from sale in their current form.

"We would urge anyone who comes across examples of irresponsible alcohol marketing to complain immediately to the Portman Group."

The company, Stiffy's Shots Ltd - trading as VC2, maintained that the name had been chosen because Stiffy was the nickname of a person involved in the development of the drink.

The company has now changed the brand name to Stivy's.

What this article doesn't mention is that the complaint came pathetically from drinks giant Molson Coors!

This is a case of Molson Coors feeling as if they could win back some of their lost market share by attempting to collapse a small scottish business. Disgraceful!

Alcohol is definitely not an observer of sexual equality - it helps women enjoy sex, and completely robs men of the ability to participate.

If you could market an alcoholic beverage that maintains a man's "abilities" then you would make a fortune. Perhaps a Vodka/Viagra mix called Vodgra or Viadka?

Certainly an oxymoron!

Sexual success?? Really?

A more accurate name would be Limpy's and would this brand name violate the Responsibility Code? Hmmm?

I think it may be aimed at women. With 20% alcohol it could be dangerous for them.
