Stephen Fry To Host Global Online Spelling Game, Spellathon

Can You Beat Stephen Fry At Spelling?

Stephen Fry is launching an online spelling competition, the Spellathon, in which he will take on anyone who likes words in a global spelling bee.

But this is no ordinary spelling competition - it will have the added difficulty of reverse spelling and there will be only 15 minutes in which to get through the reverse word run.

Competitors will take Fry on live in February next year as part of a global search for the world's speediest spellers. So there will be plenty of time to get practising or rather, teg gnicitcarp.

Anyone who manages to beat Fry's score will get a digital certificate.

Fry will take on three different categories of competitors: primary school children, secondary school children, and adults.

The Spellathon can be played on a mobile phone, tablet or computer. The app will allow users to raise money for Mencap while flexing their grey matter.

Stephen Fry said that he was "greatly looking forward" to the "extremely tricky challenge".
