John Lewis Christmas: The Beatles, Billy Joel And Guns 'N' Roses Have Also Received The John Lewis Advert Treatment (VIDEO)

John Lewis Christmas: The Other Classic Songs Who've Had A John Lewis Makeover

John Lewis caught ours (and the whole of Twitter's) attention with their new Christmas video and reworking of The Smiths class, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want.

But it's not the first time John Lewis has won us over with their cover versions of beloved iconic tunes...

In 2008, the retailer unveiled its Christmas advert featuring a cover track of The Beatles 1963 hit, From Me To You. John Lewis employees recorded the extended track, originally written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

The following year, John Lewis trumped their Beatles rendition by knocking out a folk version of the old time 1987 Guns N' Roses classic, Sweet Child O' Mine. It was the first time that the rock band allowed its music to be used in a UK advert and it was covered by Swedish band, Taken By Trees. The nostalgic, heartfelt ad featured children playing with adult gifts and morphing into adults, aiming to remind people of the, 'magic and fevered excitement' of Christmas.

In 2010, John Lewis release another tear-jerking advert and this time covering the Billy Joel classic, She's Always A Woman, sung by singer Fyfe Dangerfield. This sentimental 91 second clip shows the life cycle of a woman from birth to old age, passing through milestone moments along the way.
