More Than A Third Of Brits 'Unhappy' With Social Lives

Almost four out of 10 Britons (38%) are unhappy about their social lives with nearly a quarter (24%) saying money worries keep them at home on Saturday nights, according to a poll.

Almost a third (32%) said they stayed in every Saturday night and almost four in 10 (38%) of the 2,000 people questioned said they liked to stay in because they needed to relax.

One in 10 said they did not want to miss their favourite television shows.

Almost a quarter of those quizzed (23%) said they did not go out at all in a typical week while 36% said they had an average of one night out a week.

Saturday was the most popular night to go out, chosen by 45%, followed by Friday (33%).

Going for a meal was the most popular way to spend an evening out, chosen by 40%, while 29% chose going to the pub.

One in 10 would most like to go the cinema, 6% chose a theatre trip, 5% would like to watch sport and just one in 25 (4%) favoured going to a nightclub.

More than two-thirds (68%) said they did not have a hangover in a typical week but one in five said they had a hangover once a week and 1% confessed to being hung over more than four times a week.

Almost half (49%) said they felt their social life would improve if they had an easier way to meet new people.

Lloyd Price, a spokesman for social networking website Badoo.com, which carried out the study, said: "Brits have a reputation for always being out having a good time, but our survey shows that perhaps people aren't as sociable as we might think."
