Holly Willoughby And Reggie Yates To Present 'The Voice UK' - Can It Rival The X Factor?

Holly Willoughby And Reggie Yates Signed To Host The X Factor's Rival Show

Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates have been confirmed as hosts of The Voice UK.

Holly is the current host of reality show Dancing On Ice, but has quit the ITV programme to take on this new job at the BBC.

She will continue to present This Morning on ITV, but it means the broadcaster has lost another star from their prime time schedule.

Sources close to Holly told The Mirror she "wanted a new challenge more than money" and was excited about fronting a new project.

One said: "Holly's new deal with the BBC will be worth around £450,000 but it is more about the show than the money, otherwise she could have stayed at ITV."

Announcing Willoughby and Yates as their new star hosts, the BBC today released a statement in which Willoughby said: "I'm so excited to be hosting The Voice. When it launched in America, I watched one of the shows and thought it was just a fantastic format, and when I heard it was coming to the UK I thought to myself how incredible it would be to be a part of it. It's going to be one roller coaster of a ride and I can't wait to get started!"

Reggie Yates is known to music lovers throughout the country for his Radio 1 Request and Chart shows, Glastonbury, Reading, T-in the Park and Big Weekend coverage, and for hosting the MOBO Awards.

He said: "I'm so delighted to get this job and be part of such a credible music show. The format of The Voice in America has worked brilliantly and I have no doubt it will be just as successful on British TV."

BBC One Controller Danny Cohen commented: "Holly and Reggie feel like a perfect partnership for The Voice. They are both big fans of the show and will bring a huge amount of passion and enthusiasm to the production."

The US show stars Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton as mentors who blindly select and judge the contestants based solely on their voice.

Jessie J has been confirmed as the first celebrity coach on The Voice and three more artistes will be announced in the near future. The Voice UK is slated for Spring 2012 on BBC One.
