Taking a staggering 100 hours and using 5,554 toy cars, talented model maker Jay Sheppard has made a life-size model of the star of Cars and Cars 2, Lightning McQueen. The giant sculpture, created out of thousands of Cars toy cars, marks the release of Cars 2 out on DVD.

Some facts:

The total number of cars used was: 5554. This means that the sculpture includes:

22216 wheels

11108 eyes or headlights of which there would be 7008 Lightning McQueen eyes

If each car was placed in a line, the total length would be 499.86 m

The equivalent of 5 Football Pitches

Would comfortably wrap around the entire circumference of the London Eye

2.12 times as long as the UK's current tallest building, One Canada Square and 1.55 times longer than the tallest planned UK building (Goodman’s Fields).

This would also break the world record for the longest line of toy cars, currently held by children and volunteers in Reutte, Austria after they created a line 239.1m long on 22 September 2010.

If all the cars used were stacked on top of each other, they would reach 277 metres - almost 3 times as tall as Big Ben

Total weight of the sculpture: 4165.5kg:

6.5 times the weight of the average F1 car

1.5 times the weight of the heaviest car on sale: the Maybach 62

The equivalent of 63.2 Lewis Hamilton’s (who stars in the film)

Cars 2 is now available on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray & DVD
