Ten people have been charged in connection with the ill treatment and neglect of vulnerable patients at Winterbourne View care home in Bristol, Avon and Somerset Police said.

The charges follow the secret filming of staff by an undercover BBC journalist for Panorama.

Seven men and three women face a total of 40 charges against four former patients. They will be charged under the Mental Health act.

Three more men, who were arrested, remain on bail, while one man has been released without charge.
