Most cities would be pretty upset to discover a zombie invasion on their doorstep.
But in Mexico City it seems they actively encourage it, with nearly 10,000 "zombies" walking through the capital city on Sunday.
The aim of the so-called "Zombie Walk" was to break the Guinness world record for "Biggest zombie gathering" - a title that used to belong to the people of Asbury Park, New Jersey, who managed to get together 4,093 of the walking dead for a fun family day out early last year.
Mexico City's 9,600 registered attendees look set to blow the Asbury Park crew out of the water - as well as their other nearest competitors, a group of 8,000 or so lumbering flesh-eaters from Brisbane, Australia.
The men in suits behind the Guinness Book Of Records still have to ratify Mexico City's record claim, but bar any unforeseen undead retaliations over in Australia, it's a pretty safe bet that they'll shuffle away with prestigious honour.
Plus, as you can see from the gallery of images from the day below, it looks like Mexico really went the extra mile with their costumes this year. That is, of course, if they really are costumes...
