X Factor's Gamu Wins Fight Against Deportation To Zimbabwe

Gamu Nhengu, the former X Factor star, is "delighted" that she can stay in the UK after she and her family won their immigration fight.

Gamu was hotly tipped to win X Factor last year, but she was controversially sent home by Cheryl Cole. Cheryl took Katie Waissel, Cher Lloyd and Rebecca Ferguson through to the finals instead.

Gamu was so popular that more than 200,000 people joined a Facebook campaign demanding her return, but she was not allowed back on.

She can now stay with her family in Scotland after the Home Office failed to overturn a decision to send her, her mother, and her two brothers back to Zimbabwe.

The Home Office had accused Gamu's mother of wrongly claimed working tax credits, which she always denied.

The family's lawyer, Frances Farrell, said that the family was 'relieved' at being able to stay:

"This has come after such a long ordeal. Gamu and her family are able to get on with their lives and put this behind them."

She is planning to release her first album next year.
