Number Of 'Bursting Breast Implants' Trebles In Four Years

Botched Boob Warning - Is Katie Price To Blame?

The number of cases of breast implants bursting or leaking has nearly trebled in the last four years, figures have revealed.

In response to a Freedom of Information request from The Sun, health watchdogs revealed that there were 206 boob job disasters in 2010, including 153 ruptures, compared to 73 in 2006.

Experts say victims are risking their health by going for implants that are too big, often at cheap overseas clinics.

Top plastic surgeon Douglas McGeorge blames the trend for oversized breasts on glamour models such as Katie Price.

He said: "There is the Jordan Syndrome, where some women want bigger and bigger breasts. The bigger they are, the more problems are likely to occur."

Price increased her cup size to a 32FF before having them reduced again to a more comfortable 32D.

He added: "Some people have no idea who is treating them or the standards of the hospital equipment.

"Some implants are prone to failure. The cheap option is not always the best."

Celebrities are among those who have suffered at the hands of surgeons. Kerry Katona suffered burst stitches around her G-cup implants in 2005 while actress Tara Reid was famously left with uneven breasts with scars and bumps.
