VIDEO: Obama Croons With Santas As He Switches On National Tree

Barack Obama crooned Winter Wonderland to a festive audience as America’s new Christmas tree was lit up on the Ellipse, a grassy park area between the White House and the Washington Monument.

With surprisingly velvety tones for a head of state, Obama sang down the microphone: "In the meadows we can build a snowman and pretend that he is Parson Brown".

The Black Eyed Peas, Ellie Goulding, Father Christmas and Kermit the frog were all part of the festive tradition this year.

Obama gave special mention to the new tree, a 26 footer from New Jersey, after the old one, a 40-foot Colorado Blue Spruce, was snapped in half by strong winds.

"This is the new tree. I know it's not quite as big as the old tree. But it's going to take time to grow. But we are going to fill it up with spirit and start the new tradition right now," Obama said.

With Silvio Berlusconi releasing a new album and Obama treating audiences to a few lyrics, how long will it be before England hears a hearty baritone from David Cameron?
