TV presenter Richard Osman has become an unlikely heartthrob after being named the year's top "weird crush".

The co-host of BBC quiz show Pointless triumphed in an annual poll for Heat magazine, deposing last year's number one, Karl Pilkington, Ricky Gervais's sidekick.

Other previous winners have included TV mind control expert Derren Brown and Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson.

Osman, who is also a TV executive and scriptwriter, said: "I'm about 50% honoured and 50% embarrassed. I'm not sure whether it means I'm the best weird crush - or the weirdest crush."

New entries in the list include Radio 1 presenter Aled Haydn Jones and The Only Way Is Essex's Mick Norcross.

Prime Minister David Cameron and his deputy, Nick Clegg, remain in the list.

Adrian Chiles, who presented Daybreak for the last time, props up the top 20 - his first entry in the list.

He said: "Beggars can't be choosers, so I'll take any compliment that comes my way. I am aglow with pride."

Heat editor Lucie Cave said of the winner: "Richard embodies the true character of what the Heat weird crush is all about - a smart, clever man who wows readers with his uniqueness."
