BBC One always goes a bit crackers at Christmas, but this year it has surpassed itself.
Never mind the five-star lineup, Nick Knowles et al - many wearing suspiciously Sarah Lund-esque jumpers - in the annual festive shenanigans that we've been regularly treated/subjected to in between the real programmes, it was the two-minute offering following the final credits of Frozen Planet that really brought a drop of melting ice to the eye.
Cash registers are already ringing with sales of the Frozen Planet DVD. HMV report that it sits at number one on the DVD and Blu-Ray chart, and sits just outside the top five list occupied by film blockbusters. The retailers predict health sales assuring the nature programme top slot on the DVD and Blu-Ray list through Christmas.
Meanwhile, the video the team put together for Wednesday night was to celebrate all things BBC. There are many reasons to question our TV licence fee, but when you watch this, you have to ask... can anyone do this better?
So, it being Friday afternoon, here's the video above for you to sit back, relax and enjoy a collection of stunning images to remind yourself that it is, indeed, a wonderful world...Suggest a correction
