Bella The Dog Eats Her Food Standing Up - The Show-Off (Video)

Upright Dog

Fun science fact: congenital megaesophagus is a condition some dogs suffer whereby their digestive system won't process food properly.

Because of this, certain dogs - like Bella, here, for example - are forced to eat while standing up so that their stomach can do its job properly.

But getting the poor pups to do this isn't just a case of asking them nicely or offering them a treat... you have to use a special chair.

Witness... the "Bailey Chair", where rescue dog Bella happily chomps away at her food whilst exposing her belly to her owners' camera, and so, the whole of the internet.

Now seven months' old and "doing great" - thanks to her video viral here, Bella now can join the cute-dogs-on-the-internet hall of fame, taking her place alongside reigning world champion "Boo" and Maggie The English Mastiff.

Interesting and leading use of the word 'forced' in the 2nd paragraph. How about 'trained to eat while standing up'? Especially as it's going to save their life and mean they can live happier, healthier and longer. Positive journalism fail.

Awww Bella is so excited to eat in her Bailey Chair! So happy that she adjusted so well. I found a great site that has more information on Megaesophagus: Hope it helps! http://www.findavet.us/2012/07/how-to-treat-dogs-enlarged-esophagus/

That was hilarious the way Bella got into the chair and flipped the top down. She's a fast eater! I'm glad these people are taking such good care of her.
