Piers Morgan, the dynamic former editor of the Daily Mirror, will appear at the Leveson Inquiry next week.
CNN has confirmed Morgan, a former editor of News of the World, will give evidence at the probe into press ethics.
"He's appearing next week, but we don't have a confirmed date yet," The Guardian reported CNN's Megan McPartland as saying.
In July Morgan had a huge row with MP Louise Mensch over her claims he'd hacked phones while at the Daily Mirror, reported The Daily Telegraph.
Morgan, who replaced Larry King on the US TV network, has always denied any involvement in the illegal activity.
According to the BBC, Morgan will appear via videolink, but this has not been confirmed.
Morgan, who has the line "One day you're the cock of the walk, the next a feather duster" on his @piersmorgan Twitter account, has not made any comment.
Morgan made history when, at the age of just 28, he became editor at News of the World.
His time at the Daily Mirror ended in tears in 2004 when he was sacked after publishing fake photos which claimed to show British soldiers abusing Iraqis.
