From the Arab Spring to floods in Thailand and droughts in East Africa, children are often the most vulnerable in society to events outside their control.

Save the Children has worked with more than two million children in 37 different countries throughout the year who have lost their homes, their parents and their way of life.

While media attention moves on to another area of focus, problems still remain. Here is a look back at areas of the world still suffering from natural disasters and conflict emergencies.
