FedEx Delivery Man Smashing Computer Monitor Is YouTube Hit (Video)

Huffington Post UK   First Posted: 20/12/11 15:55 Updated: 20/12/11 15:57

When YouTube user 'goobie55' discovered that his newly-delivered computer monitor was broken in several places, he turned to the security camera he had helpfully installed outside his house.

The footage appeared to show a FedEx employee throwing the computer monitor delivery over his gate. He was outraged - and this being the modern world, immediately uploaded it to YouTube. Predictably, the clip has since become an instant hit.

Streaming under the strap-line "The FedEx Guy Throwing My Computer Monitor", 'goobie 55' explains underneath the video how he was actually at home when the monitor was delivered:

"Here is a video of my monitor being "delivered". The sad part is that I was home at the time with the front door wide open. All he would have had to do was ring the bell on the gate. Now I have to return my monitor since it is broken."

Worldwide anger directed at feckless delivery workers has sent this video rocketing to the top of trending clips on YouTube, despite being only 21 seconds long.

One user commented:

"NICE customer service...did the package have to be delivered by 10:AM....? Must have been 9:59AM....JUST IN TIME!"

Another noted the similarity between this Fed Ex man and Jim Carrey's delivery antics at the start of the movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, saying "he wasn't a pet detective by chance?"

(Check out the clip below to see how they compare.)

They actually do this all the time. The FedEx guy usually don't even ring my bell, they just toss it down the 8 steps to my basement entrance, where I of course have a sign that says no deliveries through the basement. I actually saw him tossing it from my window, and I went after him and he claimed he rang my dorrbell, which of course they couldn't have because he never went up the 3 steps on my front stoop. It was easier and less time consuming to throw the box donw my steps than to ring my doorbell and wait for me to answer it. I had captured him on video as well, but I never thought to upload it to You Tube. The box contained china replacements, 2 dinner plates and 2 cups and saucer sets. The 2 dinner plates and 1 cup was cracked. I filed a complaint with FedEx and the company who sent them. The company resent the broken items (by UPS) and filed a claim with fedEx. I have no idea if the FedEx guy was reprimanded, my guess is he wasn't.

They do this all the time, trust me.

I'm seeing a dangerously disordered personality here so the term "going postal" does come to mind. If he's sacked I hope they keep an close eye on him.

Funny, no one is asking why the packaging for such a fragile product could not withstand a short drop/fall.

what a rubbish question, no item is supposed to be thrown, what a stupid question

It isn't a question. Even if it was a question, you should know that there are no stupid questions, only stupid people who are too thick to think outside the box.
23:55 on 22/12/2011
It's a question you wouldn't be asking if it was YOUR "fragile product" that was being dumped over the fence in this way.

Federal Express was supposed to drop off a package last Friday at 7:30. I have cat food delivered. They didn't show up at all and then the next day "Did me a favor by making a special drop off." Uh huh. Some favor. I had to pay extra to have extra food delivered plus the cost of food. Fifteen dollars for a cab just to come across the city. I can't drive because of epilepsy and the office to get the food is a hike. UPS once told me I had to sign for a package and couldn't just leave it outside. I guess they forgot that one because I came home and the package was sitting on the wall of the parking lot outside my apartment complex. The driver forgot to put it back in the truck. I let them have it for that one.

Both. Two different situations. The UPS one was a while back and Fed Ex was two weeks ago.

Had a crockery dinner service delivered ,there was no answer at the door so instead of leaving it out the front, they took it round to the rear of the house and proceeded to drop it over a six foot high gate, onto a concrete path....

If it is in fact a rogue employee then it begs the question as to how about the signature, but having used the words rogue employee he know the name it was going to so would only have to produce an unintelligible version resembling that name for it to come up the tracking system as signed for by that recipient.

If he is or was a Fedex employee they should publicly confirm that action was taken.
15:55 on 22/12/2011
Not all deliveries need to obtain signatures...most do not.
20:05 on 22/12/2011
The whole point of sending valuables is that they are recorded / tracked with a signature but for me Fedex now charges more and offers less than city link

This guy gives FedEx workers a bad name. Most are hard-working guys who put in a lot of hours, and have to haul heavy packages all day long, particularly the big rig drivers that deliver freight too heavy for the smaller FedEx trucks. Frequently they have to deal with brainless customers that demand the big rig back down their tiny driveway to hand-deliver that big screen TV, or that 500 pound piece of work-out equipment with no help whatsoever, not to mention that the dimwits "want it now" without regard to whether the rig will tear down a phone line or cable wire in the process. If anybody thinks it's a piece of cake to back down a steep driveway to deliver heavy freight to a homeowner, it's outright risky for the driver. I've seen and witnessed such an event in my neighborhood, and it was downright scary. But, the customer comes first, and the supervisors' job is to determine if the delivery can be made without risk to the driver or the customer's property, but it doesn't always work out in favor of the driver.

i work in a business where we use couriers alot, and this guy is not a minority, most couriers are lazy and corrupt, the biggest headache we have is parcels going missing, i have know drivers to carry heat guns or hair dryers so that they can remove labels. they work on a basis of as soon as they unload their deliveries they can go home, so they rush around without any care for the products they handle, parcels they steal dont have to be delivered so go home even earlier to sell their loot.

they should be criminally prosecuted for theft, and wilful destruction

One of our (many) experiences back in the day was shipping by courier solid tubing which arrived flattened; we asked the customer to send pix of the box - the "work boot" print clearly visible- they had laid it flat and put everything else on top of it and walked on it- sent it in as proof - got shipping refunded & cost of unit. Refunded customer. Another experience - remote location in Ireland, the local farmer delivers the mail from his tractor LOL. (also by donkey in Mexico - that computer monitor didn't make it either) We're programmers now! Go figure. :)

Really? Because the person has money it doesn't matter that their stuff was destroyed? They paid for it just as you and I would. Sounds like you're a bit jealous the person has money and you don't.

Hola Guys

Are you serious?
Am I just a bit too Mossad here? Too long on the internet? Watching to many thrillers?

What about these other scenario's:

A. It's a spoof by whomever..
B. Hate action by an already fired FedEx employee
C. Ex employee from FedEx (fired before) that borrowed a truck from a former co-worker/ friend to piss them off?
D. Sneaky underground campaign from competitor, that later get's caught for doing so...
E. Pre-launch of a viral concept, that ater reveals the shizzle (seen that before)

I do not know how this works in the US. Probably different than in Europe.. In US a FedEx or UPS guy is probably bitten in his pants in 1998 buy a small dog and next sued the dog owner for $10 million and won :-)

But in Europe at ALL major companies like FEdEx, UPS, DHL etc: buyer needs to sign-off digitally or physically, to make sure tracking and tracing works and more important: to have legal proof the buyer indeed received his shit and sign-off for it..

So at least watch thrillers around X-mas, think scenarios :-)

Cheers

Igor

So where did the Postal Workers Union get the Fed Ex truck? Obviously a set up.
16:05 on 22/12/2011
This is not USPS; this is FEDEX idiot...not a set-up...just a stupid employee who is now unemployed, I would hope anyway. I think we need a comment from FEDEX!
12:12 on 21/12/2011
The video will cost Fedex millions in public relations. This guy should be lucky he’s employed in this economy---I mean was employed. This is why I would never buy electronics via the mail/carrier service.
16:06 on 22/12/2011
I hope UPS picks up all of the FEDEX customers because of this idiot's actions.
