'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy', 'Drive' Lead 2012 London Film Critics' Circle Awards

Tinkering With Silverware?

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Drive look set to lead the 2012 London Film Critics' Circle awards after landing six nominations each.

Both movies have been named in the coveted film of the year category, alongside silent movie The Artist and The Tree of Life.

Gary Oldman is up for actor of the year for his role in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, against other contenders including George Clooney (The Descendants), Michael Fassbender (Shame), and Ryan Gosling (Drive).

Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia), Anna Paquin (Margaret), Meryl Streep (The Iron Lady), Michelle Williams (My Week With Marilyn), and Tilda Swinton (We Need To Talk About Kevin) are all set to battle it out for the best actress trophy.

Swinton's film is up for a total of four nominations, including best British film, against Shame, Kill List and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Earlier this month, it was announced that veteran director Nicolas Roeg will accept the Dilys Powell Award for Excellence at the event, following in the footsteps of previous recipients including Quentin Tarantino, Sir Richard Attenborough and Dame Judi Dench.

The winners will be announced at the prizegiving on 19 January.
