Turkey has never been on my Christmas table. The vast majority of turkeys are oversized, dry and bland so I have always avoided them. Some poultry farmers and cooks now plug smaller rare breeds but I can't afford them so have never tried them. When I've sat down to Christmas dinner over the years, I have eaten many different meats: chicken, duck, goose, roast fore rib of beef and so on. Much more exciting. Tradition is all well and good but followed slavishly it can be a straitjacket.
