Amazon's UK arm has revealed its biggest selling items of the year, with the company's own Kindle unsurprisingly topping the list.
The online company, which began in 1998 as a book retailer, has in recent years expanded to include everything from technology to jewellery.
Yet it's the e-reader that has proved most popular on the UK site in 2011, though the company have so far refused to say exactly how many units had been sold.
Earlier this month, Amazon.com issued a press release stating that they were on course to sell one million kindles each week in December in the US.
That sounds impressive, though not compared to Apple's figures, which suggest that around 4.2 million iOS devices were activated on Christmas day alone.
Muddying the waters further, of those four million kindles there are no details as to which variants, specifically how many units of the September-released Kindle Fire, the company's first tablet, have been sold. The Kindle Fire is due in the UK in 2012, with experts predicting the device will be available by February.
Those who have bought the Kindle in the US can now run Android 4.0 thanks to a hack by developer JackpotClavin. As reported by Metro, the device comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread as standard, however the update, though buggy, allows the tablet to run the more recent operating system.
Following the e-reader on the UK list, Adele's album 21 was the biggest selling music item, while Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 was the biggest selling DVD, followed by The Inbetweeners, a Harry Potter compilation set and Colin Firth's Oscar-winning turn in the King's Speech.
Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was Amazon's biggest selling video game of the year.
