WATCH: Turtles' Underwater High Five

Turtles

Last week we discovered beluga whales say hello by waving and blowing bubbles. Now it's the turn of sea turtles to show us their underwater greeting.

And if this YouTube video is anything to go by, the shelled ones apparently do it with a 'high five' style flipper slap.

In the 35 second clip, which is sure to go viral, two turtles can be seen gracefully swimming towards each before both extending a flipper.

The pair then give a perfectly timed high five before spinning around and continuing to swim together.

Unfortunately there are few details about the footage and as such we don't know where or when it was filmed... or what the turtles were celebrating with their underwater high five.

What a cool video of the two sea turtles high fiving each other. I think the two turtles are
giving each other a greeting something like give me five, don't forget the flip side.

Dear Deluller: Bah Humbug. Don't be so dour. It's a lovely little film; no matter if they were simply getting too close to each other's personal space.

High five? Typical example of people seeing what they want to see and stirring up something, usually trouble for sombody else! These two turtles just swim past eachother a bit too close. They have to flap their flippers to swim. Here endeth the science lesson.
