Katy Perry and Russell Brand split following a disagreement about having children, according to reports.
Brand announced on Friday that he had filed for divorce from the I Kissed A Girl hitmaker after months of speculation about the state of their marriage.
They were believed to have fallen out over Perry's partying lifestyle, but now it's emerged that Brand decided to end their 14-month-long union because his wife was not ready to settle down and have kids.
A source told the Sunday Mirror: "He wanted her to stay at home, do the whole Hollywood housewives thing. But that was never going to happen for Katy, she loves her singing career."
The couple met at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 and wed in October 2010 after a whirlwind romance.
But their marriage was dogged with rumours of disagreements throughout 2011 and Brand finally confirmed the split last week after they spent Christmas 7,000 miles apart - he was in Cornwall and Perry was in Hawaii with pals.
