Meryl Streep braved the wind and rain in London last night to walk the blue carpet at The Iron Lady premiere.

Her physical transformation into an older Margaret Thatcher has been highly praised, with The Guardian calling it a "masterpiece of mimicry which re-imagines Thatcher in all her half-forgotten glory."

And CNN saying: "Her accent is spot on and she really does look the part... What really sets Streep apart from other actors playing older this year (ahem) are her body language and voice."

Streep's facial expressions and vocal stylings bear an uncanny resemblance to that of the former British prime minister and she's now been tipped for an Oscar nomination for the role, which could lead to her third win.

She said: "It would be great, because the secret of the nomination is that it comes from the actors and actors are the ones who know what you go through. So it would be amazing."

In the video above Streep explains how to get the Maggie look.
