Prince William's wife Kate Middleton turns 30th today and speculation has been rife for days as to how the newlywed will celebrate, with many sources suggesting she will opt for a low-key and private event with her nearest and dearest.

She reaches the milestone after a momentous year that has seen her marry royalty, embark on her first official overseas tour and take on several patronages.

There had been reports that Prince Harry was planning a big bash for his sister-in-law. But a St James's Palace spokesman gave a brief statement last week saying: "Whatever is planned will be low-key and private."

Yesterday the Duke and Duchess attended the UK premiere of War Horse in London's Leicester Square, where the world's media was waiting.

William, an RAF search and rescue helicopter co-pilot, is rostered to work next week from his base at RAF Valley in Anglesey.

Turning 30 will cap a life-changing 12 months for the new royal, who married her fiance on April 29 last year in a glittering Westminster Abbey ceremony in front of a television audience of billions.

Last week it was announced the duchess had agreed to support four organisations, two as patron - Action on Addiction and the National Portrait Gallery - and East Anglia's Children's Hospices and The Art Room as royal patron.

The duchess will also become a volunteer with the Scout Association, joining activities privately with groups in north Wales and other areas in a post known as an occasional helper.

When, oh when, will AOL get it right? Prince William's wife is NOT Kate Middleton. She left that name behind when they married - she is Princess Catherine. When addressing the prince as The Duke of Cambridge, the princess is correctly addressed as The Duchess of Cambridge. Casually, they may be known as William and Kate, but she will never be Kate Middleton again. Please get it right once and for all.

Also the princess has NOT "turned 30th" - she has turned 30. Does no-one at AOL proof read their work before publishing it?

Actually she is not Princess Catherine and never will be, as a commoner she is not allowed the Princess title

Actually she is not a Princess and never will be. As a commoner before her marriage she is not entitled to be a Princess, had she have been titled before her marriage then she would have been.

actually she will be a princess when charles becomes king she will take the title of the princess of wales as william will become the prince of wales at present as much as people hate it the duchess of cornwall is the princess of wales, and also kate cannot out rank the duchess of cornwall as she is the next queen even though she won't use that title
