Acer Unveils World's Thinnest PC Laptop

Acer has revealed the world's thinnest laptop, the Acer Aspire S5, at CES, the global gadget gathering in Las Vegas.

The new laptop will take on the MacBook air as the portable laptop of choice, and is the latest addition to the emerging Ultrabook market.

"That S5 is quite significant," analyst Tim Bajarin of Creative Strategies told the Economic Times. "It looks like the thinnest and lightest, and it sets the bar for the rest of the ultrabook vendors," he continued.

This new Ultrabook weighs the same as a Macbook Air - 1.35kg, but at 15mm thick, is 2mm thinner. It features The 13.3” screen will be accompanied by HDMI, USB3 and Thunderbolt ports, according to The Telegraph.

With their slick design and trimmed profile, Ultrabooks are the future of portable computing. Ultrabooks like Toshiba Portégé Z830 Ultrabook deliver the same professional appearance a Macbook Air delivers, with the PC interface that Macphobes are used to.
