Margaret Thatcher

‘The Iron Lady’, the biographical film on Margaret Thatcher, has caused quite a lot of controversy over its historical accuracy and portrayal of the elderly former PM.

David Cameron remarked that: “It's really a film about ageing, dementia, rather than a wonderful prime minister” while Boris Johnson on Monday remarked on how “Thatcher herself emerges from this film as a far more revolutionary and inspiring figure - because she was a woman”.

Here are some of Maggie’s more memorable moments.

How anyone can, with hindsight, claim that she ever did anything for this country, other than represent the narrow self interest of the super rich is beyond me.

One of her famous ones was "there's no such thing as society."

I wonder if she'd have been loathed even more if she'd said "there's no such thing as England."

Nicely summed up and I do like the video. Have a read at my review of the film,

A hagiography... Since that no, no, no, was really not a defence of the British but of the city.
Now it is the no-no-no of Cameron to the euro attempts to reign on the banksters... the intention to have a casino with e-platforms to profit for the sinking of the euro, and not profit the UK people - or else they would lobby for a global tobin tax and what the city would pay - long overdue after 400 years of profiteering and exploiting the british people as slaves and gun meat of colonial wars - would make the britons inmensely wealthy (-;

I don't think I am going to see the movie. Why not focus on the amazing woman when she was fully competent?Thatcher was in full control, able to take it up and give back at any time. That is the important message for all women, regardless of their political leanings. She was obstinate, for sure, but quick-witted and sharp as a tack. From what I've heard of the movie, there is a lot of focus on her later deterioration - whyever depict that? It has no bearing on how she conducted herself while she was in office. We ought to be respecting her privacy.
