David Cameron: Katy Perry Is 'Appalling' (VIDEO)

It's not every day the prime minister comments on pop. But in a recent interview, David Cameron said his children have "appalling" music taste - because they're Katy Perry fans.

He claimed his kids' choices, such as Perry and Bruno Mars, were beginning to "infect" his iPod.

Perry has had a mixed week. Following the announcement of her split from husband Russell Brand, the US pop star has dropped out of her scheduled appearance at the People's Choice Awards this evening, despite being nominated for seven gongs.

She has tweeted her apologies and thanks for the continuing support of her fans - presumably a tweet of support has not been forthcoming from No 10.

While the Fireworks singer might not quite be to Cameron's taste, he is a big music fan, most recently giving a shout out to Lana Del Ray and Band of Horses.

Katy Perry's camp have yet to comment on Cam's remarks.

Well, he's right.

For once he's right in my opinion... I just wish he'd comment as positively in his job.

Lord Snooty sneering again. Why didn't this man just say "not my taste in music, but my children like her"?

She has a lot of talent and younger people enjoy listening to her and her contemporaries. perhaps he never had a childhood, being locked away in private schools.

Why does he uses words like "infected" when talking about music and everyone has a different taste in music?

There again he is not a statesman otherwise he would choose his words more carefully. On the other hand he hangs around with Jeremy Clarkson so what else do you expect.

I'm sure she would take it as a compliment.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion based on musical tastes. His opinion means no more than mine, and of these he mentioned, I have none.

That's appalling.
