Has Michael Gove been spending too much time with jogging-fan George Osborne?

In Wednesday's Times, the education secretary's wife Sarah Vine revealed he is taking the prospect of a 'new year, new you' very seriously, eschewing lounging on the sofa with Minstrels for early-morning work outs.

She writes Gove has been "lured by the prospect of 'dropping two dress sizes in six weeks'" - and we can only wait to see the results.

So how do all the men in the cabinet measure up? Other than prime minister David Cameron, who employs personal trainer Matt Roberts, the chancellor has also been spotted returning to Downing Street after an early morning run. Then there's communities secretary Eric Pickles, or as David Cameron calls him, "the big man on the side of the people".

Michael, needs everyones encouragement, he is doing what he is paid to do, leading from the front. His totally dedicated attiutude and resolve is impressionable to say the least. He is attempting to completely renew the deteriorated education system, sounds like he is making tremendous progress. No doubt he is creating waves within the disjointed system, the cat amongst the apathetic pigeons so to speak, they have had their day, as Michael, steamrollers ahead for change. Well done that man, the majority of British people are right behind you. Let us hope your colleagues who shy away from the fight, will be inspired by your dedicated resolve, we shall see....

They dont need to go legging it around the streets to try and impress people that they are "in touch" Just take your snouts out of the trough, the weight will drop off then. They can always find something else to put on their exes.

We are privileged to have been let into the intimate private life of a senior Tory. I wonder what his alter-ego name is. Michaela would be too obvious.

By the way, I think the mockery is not gentlemanly at all. If Mr. Gove wants to be more in touch with his feminine side, we should all respect that, and consider the possibility that this makes him a more empathetic person, and possibly a better politician.

I reckon he calls himself Gladys.

If John Humphrys wants to pass personal remarks on looks, there is no-one more in need of a comment than Michael Gove. He looks like he should be sitting on a toadstool with a pointy hat and a fishing rod!!
