Sinead O'Connor has split from her husband for the second time.

The Nothing Compares 2 U singer married drug counsellor Barry Herridge in Las Vegas on December 8 but split after 16 days when it was revealed she went hunting for drugs on their wedding night.

The couple reconciled just days later following a night of passion but have now split again with Sinead blaming the Irish media for causing trouble in the relationship.

In a statement on her website, the star said: "His association with me became something very bad for his life. And slowly since we were married I became very ill as result of what was done to my husband and i was unable to cope. And became depressed."

Sinead recently made two suicide bids when she overdosed on pills in Los Angeles last Thursday and again this week after receiving treatment for a broken ankle in an Irish hospital.

Whilst staying in Dublin this week, Sinead made a desperate plea for help on Twitter after struggling to find psychiatric help in the city.

She wrote: "I realise I will be in trouble 4 doing this but.. Ireland is a VERY hard place to find help in. So having tried other ways 1st I'm asking does any1 know a psychiatrist in Dublin or Wicklow who could urgently see me today please?

"I'm really un-well... and in danger."

The star has since blamed the Irish media for causing further tension in her marriage.

In her statement, she said: "The behaviour of one particular paper resulted in very serious damage to my husband and myself personally and consequently made the marriage untenable so that it is now over and I hope the media will kindly leave the poor man alone to get on with his life."

The star, 45, who has been married twice before says that she will not get romantically involved with anyone in the future.

She said: "I will never again associate myself romantically with anyone as I could not bear to see these things done again to someone I love.

"I'm gonna be me. And if anyone doesn't like that they can seek therapy. Because I am wonderful. Exactly as I am. As Bridget Jones would say. And I shall continue being me. If being me means certain Irish media will try to destroy my romantic life... So be it..."

Correction to the article, she has been married 4 times in all, this being her fourth marriage.

That's not including the affairs and children, some of whom were not born to her husbands.

A therapist shouldnt be dating or seeing a client socially. You dont mix business with pleasure.
Lots of needy people try to cling on to their therapists and want them for all the wrong reasons. It is up to the therapist not to take advantage of this.

What I am really disturbed about is what the hell was a trained drugs counsellor doing driving around Vegas helping his new bride to buy cannabis, knowing that she suffers from bi-polar depression that would be made worse by the use of drugs.

Who in high heaven would even seek help from a drugs counsellor who helped someone buy drugs? It's like an alcohol counsellor buying everyone in an AA meeting beer.

Suicide is committing the full act. Attempted suicide is a cry for help... Playing a sort of Russian roulette with your life. I can only imagine what people in that position are going through. Shame.

Didn't she grass up Pouges lead singer a few years back saying she did it for his benefit?

You made your song, you said your piece and you got your money Sinead, now it's time for you to get back in the box.
