A model and fashion blogger who lost her hand and an eye after accidentally walking into a spinning plane propeller has been seen in public for the first time.

Lauren Scruggs received her devastating injures last month after taking the short flight to view Christmas lights above Texas.

The 23-year-old was pictured exclusively by TMZ with her parents leaving a hospital in Dallas with the left side of her face bandaged and her injured arm covered by a long sleeve.

Scruggs is undergoing intensive rehabilitation for her injuries and recently took to her blog to thank well-wishers for their support.

Writing on her blog, LoLo, she said: “i don’t know how to thank each one of you, properly, for so much love during this difficult incident in my life. my heart is so grateful beyond what i could ever imagine.

“So thank you dearly for the sweet encouragements, the precious words in letters and messages, the beautiful grace in pretty presents, but mostly i am so SO thankful for you and your loving hearts and sweet spirits.”

Scruggs’ twin sister Brittany Morgan says she is experiencing sympathy pains in her own left eye, the Daily Mail reported .

According to federal reports the pilot of the plane claims he tried to warn Scruggs about the propeller and guide her to safety.

TMZ reported: “When he thought she was out of harm’s way he returned to his seat, only to then hear someone scream ‘Stop, stop!’”

Glad to hear she is doing better, but common sense is to ensure the propeller is completely stopped before letting passengers disembark...makes this accident completely preventable.

Sad ..but this is the way life is. Everyday people , no matter how pretty or ugly suffer. All we can do is to wish them some inner peace and remind us to be better people. Kindness is the way to go .

Honestly, I could care less about her modeling career. If one is honest enough to look closely, every one of us has "flaws" and I, personally, consider her a beautiful young lady I'd be more than somewhat proud to hold hands with or hug strolling through Bar Harbor with a warm, loving, appreciative heart. You'll always be beautiful; and we've yet to touch on the heart, soul and spiritual! God bless you and keep a smile on your pretty face. Bob..stuffinc1@aol.com

WOW, she's incredibly lucky she's in that shape after walking into a prop... Because the German who was having a fist-fight with Indiana Jones wasn't so lucky...

I wish her a speedy recovery. I hope that her career as a model continues and flourishes despite this accident.

I'm glad they showed the 'virtual view' otherwise how would people know what really happened?
