M5 Death: Road Closed After Man Fell Onto Motorway

M5 Closed After Man Falls To His Death

Police have closed a stretch of motorway after a man fell to his death from a road running above the carriageway.

A part of the M5 running southbound between Junctions 1 and 2 was closed, with West Midlands Police warning that the road is likely to remain closed for a number of hours.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Thursday morning at around 9.50am.

A police spokesman said: "We would ask motorists to avoid the area and be aware that they are unable to leave the M6 and join the M5.

"We anticipate the motorway will be closed until later today."

West Midlands Ambulance Service said an incident support officer in a rapid response vehicle attended, along with the hazardous area response team.

The man, who has not been named, was confirmed dead at the scene.
