The New Zealand police website was shutdown on January 20 2012, following the arrest of Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom.

It is not known whether the NZ police site was hacked in retaliation against the arrest of the file-sharing site founder.

Kim Dotcom, 37, formerly known as Kim Schmitz and Kim Tim Jim Vestor, was taken by police from his $30 million mansion in Auckland, according to Stuff.nz.

He was arrested in New Zealand along with co-accused Finn Batato, 38, and chief technical officer and co-founder Mathias Ortmann, 40, both from Germany, and Dutch national Bram van der Kolk, 29.

More news to come.
