The human cost of the ipad is with ergonomics. A laptop is far more ergonomically designed than an ipad.

You're right.
It's not the slave conditions that other human beings are subjected to for our cheap toys.

I'm amazed you can type with such a massive empathy bone.

Hey! I am the first to point my finger at the Chinese government and their abuses to human rights.

When I can, I refuse to buy anything Chinese -- but it's getting more and more difficult.

Still, I stand by what I say about the ipad. And it is a toy that is not really needed.

Simple Collateral Damage... Yet many people still ridicule the anti-capitalism protesters.

Health and Life are not profitable, Health and Safety costs money and replacement staff are 10 a penny and willing to work for a little less than the last one. This is capitalism. We hide from it's devastating effects while it's abroad, we've been hiding from it for decades, but now it's slowly creeping home.

What Americans refuse to accept is the offshoring of everything fro iPads to Levis is not a saving for anyone. It is the rule of the rich and the complete ignoring of the poor. To be able to buy an iPhone few know or care that people die, the environment is destroyed and American workers who once paid taxes and contributed to every good aspect of America are now a financial drag. They need tax dollars to support them and if they get a new job it will be low wage and low tax. It is so unChristian that it is hard to think o called Christians such as Dubya, Blair, Harper and so on support the further degredation of the poor by seeking to use virtual slave labor in Asia so companies can pay their tax payers and consumers can buy a fat screen tv or a cheap pair of jeans. Lincoln mut be turning in his grave. The Benthamites must be spinning in their graves and it is all to buy what isn't needed while allowing what is needed to be destroyed.

The US labor movement should join forces with Occupy, march on Washington and demand massive transfer of funding and technology from the DOD and weapons contracts to establishment of renewable energy industries, a national high-speed rail system, and a worldwide deforestation program to create products the world desperately needs and provide employment the new work forces can take pride in beyond simply having "jobs."

And this is a perfect example of why the Federal Government need to regulate Industry. If the American corporations were left to regulate themselves then American workers would be facing the same conditions as the Chinese workers.
