George Clooney is desperate to get his hands on tickets to this year's Olympics in London.

The Ocean's Eleven star's schedule is booked up for the next few weeks as he attends a series of Hollywood awards shows, which come to an end after next month's Oscars ceremony, where he is nominated for a Best Actor prize for his role in The Descendants.

Once awards season wraps up, Clooney has set his sights on attending the biggest sporting extravaganza in the world, which comes to the British capital in the summer.

He tells Britain's The Sun, "I think it's fantastic that the Olympics are coming to London. I think you should always try to take politics out of sport and the London bid did that.

"Track and field is something that I really want to come back and see. I'm trying to see if I can get some tickets. I'm a big fan of London. There are only a handful of great cities in the world and it's one of them.

"There are some cities that are made for the world, not just the country they are in and London is definitely one of them."

How many UK tax payers bid for tickets and got allocated none?
How many applied for more than 4 and got a full allocation?
Those are the stats I'd like to see, to see just how fair the allocation system worked

If he wants to go... he'll go; sadly that's how it is....
Now a true fact... I can't afford a ticket.

Great GC can't get a ticket and it makes headline news - I can't get a ticket and nobody gives a damn.

Oh I'm sure he has a fan somewhere who'd be more than happy to give him theirs.
