Peter Andre is to follow in his ex-wife's footsteps and appear at Oxford University, after Katie Price wowed students and scholars with her performance at Cambridge last week.

The I'm A Celebrity star is to speak at Oxford union on Tuesday but the stakes are high seeing as glamour girl Price, also known as Jordan, beat Rachel Johnson, editor of The Lady sister of London Mayor Boris Johnson.

A spokesman for the union defended Andre's appearance, insisting it was "not dumbing down".

"We think he would be a really interesting speaker," he told The Sun, before describing the Mysterious Girl singer and reality-TV addict as "inspirational".

On Friday, Price triumphed in her debate, defending women's ability to juggle a successful career and family life. She joined other famous figures in speaking at the prestigious university such as Kermit the Frog. The self-made millionaire has also spoken at Oxford Union, telling students: "It doesn't matter if you're a single mum or you have financial stuff, I believe that if you really want to do something and put your mind to it, it's feasible, but you really have to be realistic."

Oxford Union confirmed the celebrity would be appearing at the union and told Huffington Post UK: "The format of Mr Andre's talk will be a very short introductory speech, but primarily will consist of a Q&A session as that is the format that we find is most popular with our members for celebrity speakers.

Good grief, what has a once respected centre of learning come to? The man went on this programme where you get to eat worms purely to revive, (or possibly even start) a career. he is now famous for being famous.

People with genuine smart and insightful observations are no longer valued in our society. Frankie Boyle made a similar observation an article about freedom of speech. It used to be intellectuals were in plentiful supply it would seem that they are certainly an endangered species on television.

Why not lower the tone even further and invite Russell Brand. That would at least leave one stone upturned for a bit.

Actually the university is to be congratulated - this pair stand as an awful warning to students who don't study hard and make the most of their opportunity - they could end up the intellectual equivalents of this pair - do you as an Oxford student want to achieve a Double First or like Katie Price a Double D !!!!!

The students who dont study and make the most of their opportunities face a life on the dole or as a member of the House of Commons. Most failed students land up there by the look of it.

They really are scrapping the bottom of the barrel or are they secretly laughing at what can only be described as these two twits.
