It's Groundhog Day 2012 - So Relive The Best Moments! (VIDEO)

How Will You Be Celebrating Groundhog Day?

UPDATE: Bad news, everyone, as a certain groundhog has seen his shadow this year, which means... six more weeks of winter - and with weather like this, that's a very, very, very bad thing. Damn.

Groundhog Day? Can it be that time of the year already?

The time of the year where the world - well, some of the world, anyway - turns its attention to Gobbler's Knob, just outside of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to see whether Punxsutawney Phil, everyone's favourite groundhog, will see his shadow?

Yes, yes indeed, it is 2 February once more, with the results of the auspicious day set to be released later.

For those not in the know, the tradition of Groundhog Day revolves around whether a weather-predicting woodchuck sees his shadow... if he does, that means six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't, that means spring is just around the corner - hoorah!

Of course, most people know of America's very special day because of Bill Murray's immortal 1993 comedy classic Groundhog Day. In it, Murray's character Phil Connors, a grumpy weatherman, must relive the same day over and over and over until he somehow manages to get himself out of it.

If you've already watched it, you'll know it's brilliant. If you haven't, get on it as soon as you can - you won't be disappointed.

In the meantime, here above is a 20 minute compilation of the film's best bits, including Ned Ryerson getting punched in the face. As you'd expect.

And for once, Britain is experiencing the kind of weather that Phil here is meant to stop happening, so we're really keen to find out his predictions. In other words, to quote the film itself, "...don't forget your booties 'cause it's cooooold out there!"
