Lisa Marie Presley has revealed she is not happy with the representations of her father, Elvis, on film.

The 44-year-old singer revealed she has been in talks about making a biopic that does justice to the late rock and roll icon.

Lisa Marie said: "There can be a sort of cheesy take on him, which I don't always love sometimes - you know, the later years and that whole thing with his white jumpsuit.

"Now I'm probably over it. But I mean it was kind of running wild for a while. It was a little bit cringe-worthy."

She revealed she has discussed making a film about her father that captures the true Elvis.

Lisa Marie said: "There's not been anything done properly with him yet, you know, that has satisfied me in terms of capturing everything. It will happen, though."

The singer was speaking at the opening of Elvis Through His Daughter's Eyes, an exhibition at his Memphis home Graceland celebrating the relationship Lisa Marie had with her father.

Elvis Presley died in Memphis on August 16, 1977. This year marks the 35th anniversary of his death, which is observed with a weeklong gathering of Elvis fans in August of every year. Officials anticipate a crowd this year that could match or exceed the 75,000 people who showed up at Graceland in 2007 for the 30th anniversary.

Lisa Marie said: "I'm proud to be my father's daughter because that is something that changed the world. I do feel honoured about that."

Elvis was different. The way he dressed, looked, and sang. As an Elvis fan since the age of three or better yet in utero. I never thought anything he did was cheesy. Only Elvis was cool enough to pull off the jumpsuit days. These so called Elvis impersonators can't. They're just a bad Elvis parody, and since they aren't cool the jumpsuit makes them look like a clown. Hey, kids, that's not Elvis. True Elvis fans first love the man's voice, the other stuff is just an added bonus. Yes, his movie songs were silly, but in context to the movie, they were perfect.

I think it's pretty clear that she doesn't feel the portrayals of her father to date are an accurate representation of his life. Obviously, as his daughter, she has information the general public is not privy to know....I look forward to what she might have to show us about her father. It will be interesting I'm sure.
