Amanda Knox To Appeal Meredith Kercher Murder Slander Conviction

Amanda Knox To Appeal Slander Conviction

Amanda Knox has launched an appeal against her conviction for slander, her Italian lawyer has said.

However her conviction for slander for falsely accusing Diya "Patrick" Lumumba, the owner of a local bar, of involvement in Kercher's death, was upheld by the same court.

She was sentenced to three years for the offence. However as she had already served longer than that in an Italian jail she was allowed to return to the United States a free woman.

Knox has claimed she was “manipulated” by police during her lengthy interrogation.

According to the Press Association, an appeal over the slander conviction was filed on Monday. It is not clear when the court would consider it.
