In case you haven't read a newspaper or been on Twitter yet - today is the the day when the world goes officially Charles Dickens crazy.

Events are taking place across the UK and the rest of the world, including a wreath laying ceremony at Westminster Abbey, literature festivals and theatre performances.

But fear not Dickens' fans, if you happen to be stuck in work today you haven't missed the boat entirely - there will be opportunities throughout 2012 to pay homage to the author and learn more about his influences.
