Missy Elliott Comeback: Rapper To Release New Album In June

Get Your Freak On!

Rap icon Missy Elliott will release her first album in seven years in June.

The Work It hitmaker, who revealed she was battling autoimmune condition Graves' disease last year, was originally due to release the follow-up to 2005's The Cookbook in 2007, but the project, then titled The Countdown, has suffered numerous delays and setbacks due to tracks leaking online.

Now Elliott's longtime collaborator and producer pal Timbaland tells MTV.com she's aiming to make her chart comeback this summer with the newly-renamed Block Party - which will be released at the same time as his own solo disc.

He says: "Me and Missy are both coming with our albums at the same time, and it will be in June.

"Right now, we're preparing to get both our videos, our first singles, shot kinda at the same time. We want to do it as a movement and spontaneously.

"I just don't want to move too ahead of her and she don't (sic) want to move too ahead of me. So we're both doing it at the same time."

Timbaland's last album, Shock Value II, hit music retailers in 2009.
